About

How?

At That Film Festival, we're not just creating an event; we're building a bridge between dreams and reality. Our primary goal is to empower new and emerging talents within the dynamic landscape of the film industry. We're breaking down barriers that have held back exceptional talents, allowing them to shine on the big screen.

By bringing filmmakers into direct contact with investors, marketing directors, sales, and distribution experts, we're facilitating connections that can change lives and shape the future of cinema. Our commitment goes beyond the festival itself; it's about nurturing creativity, fostering innovation, and giving filmmakers the tools they need to thrive.

With a dedicated panel of active film investors and seasoned professionals, we meticulously evaluate the submissions and select the winners. Each season, one outstanding filmmaker will be awarded $10,000 to option their feature script and secure additional funding of up to $250,000 to transform that script into an enthralling feature. But our support doesn't stop there – our winners also benefit from a comprehensive package that includes a year's worth of marketing, sales, and distribution assistance, providing them with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive film industry.

You've got four chances throughout the year to submit your short films to our dynamic showcases. In each round, we're picking three standouts. That's twelve finalists who will then dive into a thrilling challenge: you'll get a month and a half to bring a script we handpick to life on the small screen. No, we're not looking for a Hollywood-level production, but we're excited to see something captivating that truly waves your creative flag.

From these cinematic gems, one winner will emerge. Here's where it gets even more interesting: you'll have a whole year to pen a feature-length script which we will then option for $10,000. And the cherry on top? We'll bring that script to full-blown cinematic life, fueling its transformation with a production budget starting at $250,000.

The Process

Branded "That Film Festival", we create unique 'festivals' within a festival and allow aspiring filmmakers to showcase their talent to film lovers, industry professionals & film investors. Our showcases go beyond mere screenings; they offer invaluable opportunities for networking, learning, and personal growth.

Our showcases, held at prestigious events like Cannes, London, Marbella, and Berlin, serve as stages for the best short films submitted to us.

Berlin

One-day showcase featuring selected short films.

Cannes

Two day showcase featuring selected short films, industry talks and networking events.

London

Two-day showcase featuring selected short films, industry workshops, and networking events.

Marbella

One-day showcase featuring selected short films.

We Are Worldwide

Despite being a UK-based company, we have received submissions from all over the world, including Thailand, Australia, Nigeria, the USA, and various European countries, in our first year. Although our film festival showcases are held in European cities like Cannes, London, Berlin, and Marbella, we've attracted a large number of filmmakers who travel great distances from countries to see their films showcased and to meet with us. This global interest is reflected in our social media following, with almost 60% of our followers coming from outside Europe.

452%

INCREASE IN SUBMISSIONS PER SEASON

Since our first stand-alone festival in Cannes in May 2018, we have experienced rapid growth in the number of submissions. We now have double the submissions compared to when we first launched.

“Designed to offer emerging filmmakers the phenomenal opportunity of turning their short into a feature. So pleased my film was selected for this event! Extremely nice and hospitable organisers!”

Monique Sorgen -

“This is the best idea ever for a festival. It's the only one I know of that really has the potential to advance your career, and get your next project made. I had such a great time meeting the investors in Cannes. I found they had a lot of passion and great senses of humor, and it was a thrill to share my current film "Sorry, Not Sorry," and my future film plans with them. The staff was incredibly welcoming, too, and the whole experience has felt like magic.”

Simona Calo -

“I think this is probably the best film festival ever! The filmmakers have the opportunity to talk to investors, pitch their ideas etc... Everyone in the staff is very nice and helpful! I didn't win in Cannes, but I'll try again with another project.”

Daniel Ademinokan -

“WOW!! This is by far the BEST, BEST, BEST Festival experience I have had in my very long career as a filmmaker. Their communication, hospitality, and level of passion for storytelling is amazing. They actually care about 'the filmmakers'. Yes, they do. I had a great experience with them in Berlin and I look forward to bigger things ahead. The audience that came to see our film loved it and appreciated us as storytellers and not just another face or number. Worth every dime and time.”
